Today is laundry day, ugh. I am not sure exactly what it is about laundry that makes me dislike it so much, maybe it is the folding and putting it away part. I am what you would call a laundry procrastinator, I wait until I can no longer ignore the mountain sized laundry pile or we run out of clean undies; whatever comes first.

In honor of it being laundry day and the fact that I had to make up a batch of laundry detergent, I thought I would share my DIY Laundry Soap Recipe. This recipe is adapted from one found on Soap Queen. Check out their website for some really great DIY recipes www.soapqueen.com

DIY Laundry Soap

1 Cup Borax

1/2 Soda Ash

1 Cup Shredded Soap ( I grate up lye heavy coconut oil soap bars that I make)

20-30 drops of essential oils, add more for a stronger scent

Yoga Mat Spray

Picture
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 15 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil, lemongrass essential oil or a combination of both. Do not exceed 10 drops.
  • Spray bottle, glass. Some essential oils eat away at the plastic

Directions:
  1. Mix together all of the above ingredients and pour into spray bottle.
  2. Shake spray bottle to combine the ingredients. Shake the bottle before each use.
  3. Spray on your yoga mat immediately after you finish your practice.
  4. Wipe the mat down with a clean cloth.
  5. Hang mat to dry.
If your mat is really dirty or stinky, you can add some witch hazel or vinegar to give your mat a really good clean.

*Please check with the manufacturer of your mat as some mats cannot be cleaned with tee tree  oil .
